DEPLOYMENT GUIDE

A wildfire monitoring pilot checklist

A pilot should answer a defined operational question. Use this checklist to prepare a project that produces evidence for a deployment decision.

Discuss your project

Scope and ownership

Define the monitored area, priority assets, timeline and project owner. Agree what the pilot can establish and which questions require longer seasonal observation.

Installation and connectivity

Review land access, permissions, mounting locations, terrain and communication paths. Document the installed coordinates and confirm each node reports as expected.

Data and evaluation

Agree criteria for data completeness, network availability, environmental baselines and notification latency. Record the circumstances of alerts and define how false alarms and missed events will be assessed.

Operational exercise

Confirm recipients and escalation paths. Run a notification exercise without presenting it as a real emergency. Document acknowledgement and the team's verification process.

Decision and next steps

Review performance against the agreed criteria, record limitations and estimate the effort needed for a larger deployment. Retain the results so future phases can be compared.

Move from questions to a deployment plan

Tell us about the area and assets you want to protect. We can discuss the monitoring approach and a practical next step.
